Children’s Emotional Intelligence Books for ADHD

Gentle stories that help children recognise big feelings, understand them, and learn that emotions change,  written especially for ADHD brains.

The Self-Awareness Series for ages 2–7 gently supports young children in noticing and understanding what is happening inside them. Through simple, reassuring stories, children are introduced to body signals, early thoughts, and internal reactions in a way that feels safe and age-appropriate. These books are designed to build awareness before regulation, helping children with ADHD develop understanding over time through repetition, connection, and calm support — not pressure or correction.

Listening to My Body

A gentle self-awareness story for young children with ADHD

Listening to My Body is the first book in the Casper and Bentley Self-Awareness Series for children aged 2–7.

In this gentle story, Casper notices an uncomfortable feeling in his tummy while playing. With the calm support of his friend Bentley, he begins to understand that his body is communicating a need, and that listening to these signals helps him feel better and stay healthy.

This book supports early self-awareness by helping children notice physical sensations, understand that the body sends helpful messages, and feel reassured that it is safe to listen to what’s happening inside them.

Designed with ADHD in mind, the focus is not on behaviour or self-control, but on awareness before regulation. The story is intended to be read slowly, revisited often, and used as a gentle way to build understanding over time.

A short parent guide is included to support connection and reflection in everyday moments.
