Early Years Emotional Understanding Journey
Early Years Pathway (Ages 2–7)
A six-month guided pathway helping young children with ADHD develop emotional awareness, confidence, resilience, and self-understanding
Why Does It Matter?
Many parents spend years trying to help their child manage meltdowns, frustration, emotional outbursts, misunderstandings, and challenges with friendships, confidence, or communication.
While strategies can be helpful in the moment, many children also need something deeper: the opportunity to understand themselves.
The Emotional Understanding Journey is designed to help children build foundations that can support them throughout childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.
As children grow, they face new challenges. Friendships become more complex, expectations increase, emotions become bigger, and during adolescence hormones can make emotional experiences feel even more intense. Without a strong understanding of themselves, many children can find these changes confusing, overwhelming, and difficult to communicate.
This journey helps children gradually develop the skills that sit underneath everyday life:
• Understanding what they are feeling
• Recognising what is happening inside before emotions become overwhelming
• Learning how to communicate their thoughts and feelings
• Understanding that mistakes are part of learning
• Building confidence in who they are
• Developing resilience when things do not go to plan
• Understanding other people's perspectives while staying true to themselves
The goal is not to create perfect behaviour.
The goal is to help children build a stronger understanding of themselves, giving them foundations they can continue to use as they grow into teenagers and adults.
Because when children understand themselves, they are often better able to communicate, build relationships, navigate challenges, and move forward with confidence, even when life becomes difficult.
How The Journey Works
The Emotional Understanding Journey is designed to support both children and parents.
Rather than expecting families to work everything out alone, I guide parents step-by-step through the journey, helping them understand not only what may be happening for their child, but how they can support their child's emotional development in everyday life.
Throughout the journey, families receive guidance, practical support, activities, and resources that can be used at home in a way that feels manageable and realistic.
The focus is not on perfection. It is about helping parents build confidence in supporting their child while helping children develop a stronger understanding of themselves.
Together, we work on building foundations that can support children not only today, but as they grow into teenagers and adults.

Why This Journey Is Different
Many programmes provide information, worksheets, or strategies and then leave parents to work through them alone.
The Emotional Understanding Journey is different.
Throughout the six months, I work alongside you and your child, helping you understand what may be happening beneath the behaviour and how to support your child's emotional development in a way that works for your family.
As a parent with ADHD myself, I understand that knowing what to do and being able to do it are often two very different things.
This journey is not about giving you a folder of resources and hoping for the best. It is about providing ongoing support, guidance, encouragement, and practical ideas that can be adapted to your child and your family's needs.
You do not have to work everything out alone.
