Casper & Bentley Learn Big Feelings: Nervous

A gentle emotional intelligence story for young children

This book is part of the Casper & Bentley Emotional Intelligence series, created to support young children in understanding big feelings in a calm, reassuring way.

Through the story of two very different dogs — one older and steady, one younger and still learning — children are gently introduced to nervousness:
how it can feel uncomfortable in the body, why it often appears in new or unfamiliar situations, and how nervous feelings can soften as things become more familiar and safe.

This book is especially helpful for:

  • children aged 2–7

  • children with ADHD or neurodivergent experiences

  • children who feel unsure in new places or situations

  • parents and carers supporting confidence through reassurance and presence

The focus is not on encouraging children to be brave or push through discomfort, but on emotional awareness — helping children recognise nervousness as a feeling that makes sense and can change with time, safety, and support.

Each book includes a short parent guide, offering gentle ways to use the story to support emotional understanding in everyday moments.

Casper & Bentley Learn Big Feelings: Nervous is designed to be read slowly, revisited often, and grown into over time.
