When My Worries Feel Big

A gentle self-awareness story for young children with ADHD

When My Worries Feel Big is part of the Casper and Bentley Self-Awareness Series for children aged 2–7.

In this story, Casper begins to feel worried when he cannot find his favourite ball at the play centre. As time passes, the feeling in his tummy grows bigger and tighter. With the calm support of his friend Bentley, Casper starts to understand that sometimes our brains create stories that make our worries feel larger than they need to be.

This book gently supports early self-awareness by helping children:

  • notice when a worry is growing in their body

  • understand how thoughts can make feelings feel bigger

  • recognise that worry does not always mean danger

  • learn that feelings can change and pass

Designed especially with ADHD in mind, the focus is not on stopping worry or correcting behaviour, but on helping children understand what is happening inside them before learning how to regulate it.

The story is intended to be read slowly, revisited often, and used as a gentle way to build emotional understanding over time.

A short parent guide is included to support calm conversation and connection in everyday moments.
